Nature’s Voice
"Nature is not a place to visit; it is a home."

Soft rain whispers to me in
the wee hours of the morning.
"Listen," It says, "We have come to
nourish the Earth so that it can nourish you."
As I listen, I, too, feel nourished, and my body is relaxed,
bringing new heights of awareness.
The delicate sound lightly falls into the soil
as it feeds the Earth's longing for moisture to replenish itself.
Nature and my soul rest in communion.
A faint sound of a bird's chirping interrupts the moment,
Then another, and I slowly opened my eyes.
Squirrels are chasing each other around the tree trunk
and a deer slowly moves to nibble on a leaf.
The Sun peeks through the woods between the open spaces,
casting light until the shadows release their hold and dissolve.
The morning is waking up cheerfully.
And then, I hear the whisper again.
"Today is the only day that matters, live as if it seeks your protection.
Relish in the gift we are to you and we will relish in your kindness,
for we are intertwined."
Easy to say, challenging to carry out.
It can be done, though, and it is always your choice.
Enjoy your day. It will be the only one like it.
"What is the good of your stars and trees, your sunrise and the wind,
if they do not enter into our daily lives?" ~E.M. Forster
